At least 50,000 people have been killed, and more than two and a half million displaced. In the West Bank, since October 2023, Israeli occupation forces have killed nearly 900 people and kidnapped more than 15,000. March to bring awareness and demand an end to the genocide. One year after the Athens law school occupation, where 20 students were arrested and nine international comrades faced deportation for their involvement in anti-zionist, anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist struggles, we gather to reflect, connect and strategise. This event brings together voices from the SOAS encampment, the Bangladesh student movement and the Palestinian feminist student movement to explore the role of students and university spaces in global resistance to imperialism and capitalism. We will discuss the history of student uprisings and the university as both a site of capitalist reproduction and a space of rupture. Another weapon used by the colonial Zionist entity in the genocide is the systematic destruction of Palestinian education. Universities, schools and archives are not collateral damage but deliberate targets. The attack on knowledge is an attack on Palestinian indigeneity, autonomy, collective memory and on the capacity to resist. This is a clear expression of how state and colonial power work to monopolise knowledge and suppress radical thought. In the Western context, universities and academics function as the intellectual arm of the establishment, as weapons of control and production, maintaining Euro-American hegemony and its extractive, genocidal oppression of the so-called Global South. Those who challenge imperial dogma and the neoliberal university establishment can be forcibly deported and disappeared, or worse, in political witch hunts - as witnessed within various parts of the imperial core. State repression of the university is not just about silencing critique; it is about eliminating the possibility of collective liberation rooted in history, theory and lived experience. This coordinated reaction to the Global Student Intifada serves as a testament to the power and limitations of mass student organising, which must ultimately escalate its militancy to destroy the university as a whole.
