Sinds twee dagen vallen zij de Koerdische wijken in Aleppo aan met tanks, pantservoertuigen, artellerie en drones. De civiele bevolking loopt groot gevaar en er is risico van etnisch geweld en uitdrijving van de Koerden uit deze stad. Weer eens tonen de jihadisten hun ware gelaat: zij zijn vijanden van de etnisch-culturele en relgieuze diversiteit en van democratische waarden en de mensenrechten. Dat zij in het voorbije jaar, sinds de machtsovername in Damascus, door de internationale gemeenschap erkend en gesteund zijn, verandert niets aan deze naakte waarheid. De getrimde baarden en deftige maatpakken kunnen niet verbergen dat HTS hetzelfde is als ISIS (Daesh). De bloedige praktijken die ze tentoonstelden aan de Alevitische west kust en het Druzische zuiden, willen ze nog eens overdoen in het Koerdische noorden van Syrië. Years before the Olympics came to town, coalitions and networks of resistance formed to push back. Vancouver will host seven matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, from Jun 11 to July 19, 2026, alongside 15 other cities across Canada, Mexico, and the U.S., with the FIFA Fan Festival held at the PNE.
