Tijdens deze actie willen we de tijd nemen om alle Palestijnse slachtoffers sinds de Nakba van 1948 te herdenken en stil te staan bij de laatste woorden van Hind Rajab. De genocide is niet voorbij. “Vergeet Gaza niet” waren één van de laatste boodschappen van Anas al Sharif. Journalist Al Sharif werd zoals velen van zijn collega’s op een gruwelijke manier geëxecuteerd door de genocidale terreurstaat Israël. Nu zoals al te vaak het geval is laat stad Antwerpen opnieuw op zich wachten. Tot nu toe hebben we nog altijd geen toelating ontvangen voor de actie van 2/02 op het Operaplein. De aanvraag voor deze actie is nog steeds in behandeling en zal naar alle waarschijnlijkheid pas maandag vlak voor de actie worden afgehandeld. Op maandagavond 26 januari vindt de eerste gemeenteraadszitting na de kerstperiode plaats. En ja hoor… WIJ ZIJN HIER!! Wij zijn van de partij. Onze eis is simpel: Antwerpen, breek de banden. Geen halve maatregelen of bochtenwerk. Boycot Israël volledig. Punt. Nu hou jullie schrap hoor want hier komt het.. De stad legt ons een limiet op van 150 betogers. Of zoals de politie het na een telefonisch gesprek formuleerde, zouden er maandag slechts 150 personen worden toegelaten in een afgebakend vak op de Suikerrui. Absurd toch?! Niet omdat het moet maar omdat het schuurt. Vredevolle en bezorgde Antwerpenaren die wekelijks samenkomen voor een vrij Palestina? Dat schuurt enorm zo te zien. Laat het duidelijk zijn, dit is geen ordehandhaving niet meer, dit is het inperken van ons fundamentele recht op protest. Ons recht om gezien en gehoord te worden. Om te tonen dat we écht van goede wil zijn voorzien we zelfs 150 tickets voor wie wil deelnemen aan de actie. First come, first serve Midden december dienden we braaf onze aanvraag in. De goedkeuring? Die laat zoals gewoonlijk rustig op zich wachten. Tijd genoeg om te treuzelen blijkbaar. Normaalste gang van zaken in Antwerpen bij het evenementenloket. Maar hoe dan ook we hebben dus besloten om present te zijn daar waar er beslissingen worden genomen. Samen met velen andere maatschappelijke bewegingen, burgerinitiatieven en belangrijke actoren uit het middenveld bundelen we onze krachten samen en willen we één ding duidelijk maken. Democratie is geen decorstuk! Beleid moet aanspreekbaar zijn. Mensenrechten zijn geen mening. Palestina of Antwerpen? Dezelfde vragen blijven branden: Wie draagt verantwoordelijkheid? Wie wordt gehoord? En wanneer wordt zwijgen medeplichtigheid? Dit is een oproep aan wie weigert te zwijgen. Aan wie weet dat solidariteit vooral lokaal begint. Aan wie vindt dat verontwaardiging moet bewegen. We laten ons niet monddood maken. En we laten ons vooral niet afleiden! Wees er maandag bij! Voor inspraak, voor democratie, voor verandering en voor een vrij Palestina
