Initially arrested and imprisoned by the Palestinian Authority, he was abducted from the PA prison in Jericho by zionist forces in 2006 and eventually given a 30 year sentence. As a leader within the prisoner movement, he has topped the list of prisoners to be released in all exchanges, but the zionist regime has consistently refused to set him free. More recent reports indicate that he has been subjected, like all Palestinian leaders behind bars, to increased torture, starvation and isolation. For this session we’ll be reading two articles that focus on Ahmad Sa’adat: one written a year ago marking 23 years of imprisonment, and another more recent piece that provides an update on his condition inside zionist prisons. In addition to reading, we will mark this week with two actions: there will be posters of Ahmad Sa’adat that people can take with them and put up in public spaces, and we are planning a banner drop on Saturday, Jan 17 @ 12:00 pm, gathering at Thornton Park. Eine diesbezügliche parlamentarische Anfrage war wenig mehr als eine tautologisch-bürokratische Verarsche. Ein Ministerium verweist im Kreis auf das andere, um schließlich zum Ergebnis zu kommen, dass Israel auf keiner (selbsterstellten) Liste von Ländern steht, in die Rüstungsexporte problematisch wären. Es handelt sich dennoch um einen Verstoß gegen den Geist der verfassungsgemäßen Neutralität sowie möglicherweise gegen das Außenhandels-, sowie Kriegsmaterialgesetz. Die Anwältin Astrid Wagner hat daher eine Sachverhaltsdarstellung bei der Staatsanwaltschaft eingebracht. Otto attivisti sono detenuti preventivamente in modo illegale. Tre di loro sono in sciopero della fame e in pericolo di morte immediata. Non si tratta di un rischio astratto: le loro condizioni sono critiche, irreversibili, ogni giorno può essere l’ultimo. Lo Stato britannico si sta assumendo consapevolmente la responsabilità politica e materiale di ciò che potrebbe accadere. -Heba è al 67° giorno di sciopero della fame, con gravi danni fisici e neurologici. -Kamran è al 60° giorno, con problemi cardiaci e perdita dell’udito. -Lewie, attivista diabetico, è al 46° giorno di sciopero della fame intermittente. Stanno mettendo il proprio corpo tra la vita e la morte perché ogni altra forma di giustizia è stata loro negata. La loro fame è fame di giustizia. Per questo mercoledì 14 gennaio saremo in presidio, per esprimere solidarietà agli attivisti in sciopero della fame e denunciare le responsabilità dirette dello Stato che quell’ambasciata rappresenta. La Gran Bretagna è storicamente complice del genocidio del popolo palestinese: dalla Dichiarazione di Balfour al sostegno politico, militare ed economico a Israele oggi. La repressione contro Palestine Action è la prosecuzione diretta di questa complicità. Ma la repressione è globale. I governi occidentali, l’Unione Europea e l’Italia sono complici del genocidio. L’Italia è il terzo esportatore di armi verso Israele e, allo stesso tempo, sta intensificando la criminalizzazione del movimento di solidarietà con la Palestina. Anche qui è in corso una repressione del dissenso: una guerra politica e psicologica contro chi scende in piazza, perché le mobilitazioni hanno messo in difficoltà il governo italiano, come già accade in molti altri paesi.
