Since then, nearly 44,000 people have been killed and more than 104,000 injured in Gaza, and about 1.9 million people - 90% of Gaza’s population - have fled their homes over the past year. In solidarity with Palestine and peace Kino Aurora presents a short film screening in aim to raise funds to help the victims of war, and also to raise awareness and discussion about the ongoing situation in Palestine. The event is free entry, but we encourage participants to donate to charities of their choosing. The main target for charities is the family of a local resident and a Gaza refugee, an aspiring filmmaker Omar Alqrinawi, whose two short films will be shown at the event. Omar will also be present at the screening for discussion. Omar has a Gofundme campaign for support of his family, who are still in Gaza. All the films are either spoken or subtitled in English, and the discussion after the films is also conducted in English. Since the films don't have an official Finnish age restriction, the event is K-18. The event is arranged in co-operation with Free Palestine Jyväskylä -collective.

Ferra are the sole supplier of the Alternate Missions Equipment (AME weapons adapters that attach and release bombs from the F-35. Every F-35 in production and currently in operation requires weapons adapters manufactured by Ferra Engineering. Ferra is also the global supplier of the Extended Range Wing Kits for Boeing’s JDAM systems. Israel has ordered 25 new F-35s from Lockheed Martin and continues to require more of Boeing’s JDAM systems in their attacks on Gaza, and Queensland’s support of these companies is causing unfathomable devastation. Unknown#Repost @freepalestinemelb The 8th December marks the anniversary of the First Intifada (the Arabic word for a popular uprising) in Palestine. In December 1987, the deaths of four Palestinians in Gaza, run over by an Israeli truck, sparked a mass national movement of civil disobedience against Israeli occupation. It was the result of long brewing discontent of a people subjected to unspeakable oppression. The intifada was distinguished by widespread participation across Palestinian society: workers, women's groups, cultural associations, university students and faculty, in cities, villages, and refugee camps. Palestinian resistance involved general strikes, boycotts of Israeli political institutions and Israeli products, refusal to work on Israel settlements, and refusal to pay taxes to Israel. But the uprising was met with brutal repression by Israel. Extreme violence from the Israeli army resulted in over 1200 deaths, including 230 children, and thousands more were injured by Israel’s policy of ‘might, power and beatings’, which instructed Israeli soldiers to break the bones of unarmed protestors. Israel imposed collective punishment on the Palestinian population, including round the clock curfews, the closure of Palestinian schools and universities, the destruction of Palestinian homes, land and crops, and the cutting of water and fuel supplies. Israel used mass arrest and the criminalisation of all forms of political expression – including the Palestinian flag – to attempt to suppress resistance. During the course of the Intifada, Palestine had the highest incarceration rate in the world. Over 170,000 Palestinians were arrested, often for acts as small as participating in a march or carrying a Palestinian flag, with torture routinely used against prisoners. Roughly 20% of Palestinians under occupation, including 40% of men, have been through Israeli prisons. The ongoing Genocide is a continuation of Israeli policy of domination and oppression.
