On May 26th, 2024, Israel killed over 45 people in what came to be known as the Rafah Tent Massacre. The target? A civilian refugee camp in a designated "safe zone." At least 8 children were killed, including 18-month-old Ahmed Al-Najjar, whose image is forever seared into our memories. An investigation from the New York Times revealed that parts from the missiles were manufactured by Woodward Inc. Woodward is headquartered here in Fort Collins. This ties Fort Collins directly to the mass murder of Palestinians in Gaza. Woodward made a record $3.3 billion in sales last year, roughly 20% of which came from "defense." Despite all being charged with ordinary criminal offences, the state is alleging their case has a "terrorism connection", which is only determined by a Judge at sentencing if convicted. This allegation has been used to deny them bail, with some facing up to two years in prison before trial. It can also aggravate any sentence and subject them to harsh restrictions. During the live investigation of the #Filton18, the UK government established contact between the Israeli embassy and the prosecutors and counter-terror police. Clearly, this indicates political and foreign interference in this case, making the prosecution an abuse of process. The police have called the operation against the #Filton18 "operation recomply". This name couldn't be more reflective of the political forces driving this unprecedented case forward. If they believe they can make us comply with genocide, they are mistake. Turn up on 26th & 27th June at the Old Bailey to show that: we will not comply.
