We are joining the call for a Europe-wide protest on December 12 against the EU's complicity in genocide. From 2021-2024 alone, Israeli universities, military-industrial companies, and state institutions received €1.1 billion from the EU's Horizon research program. The EU continues to pay Israel to this day, despite over two years of genocide and violations of international law. European universities normalize this support by remaining in Horizon Europe projects with Israel. Ávila ha dedicado su trayectoria a la lucha socioambiental, la economía solidaria y el fortalecimiento de movimientos populares, pero también ha tenido un papel especialmente relevante en la Flotilla de la Libertad, una coalición global de organizaciones que busca llevar ayuda humanitaria a Gaza y cuestionar el bloqueo, la ocupación ilegal y el genocidio. Su participación en la Flotilla ha sido significativa: ha contribuido a la coordinación internacional del proyecto, a la visibilización del bloqueo ante la opinión pública y a la construcción de alianzas internacionales que sostienen estas misiones. En dos ocasiones ha formado parte de los barcos que intentan llegar a Gaza, enfrentando detenciones y situaciones de riesgo debido a la naturaleza del operativo humanitario. Estas experiencias lo han convertido en una voz importante para comprender, desde la vivencia directa, las dificultades y desafíos que enfrentan las iniciativas civiles que buscan acompañar al pueblo palestino en un contexto altamente complejo.
