They really paid attention to the messages from the HeART of Gaza children, and their responses were so thoughtful. We have more workshops tomorrow. There are still slots available on Friday, if any local school is interested in a last minute booking. We would also love you to join us this Saturday any time between 10am and 3pm to make your own response to the exhibition. It will be very casual. All materials will be provided for free. Per raggiungere questi obiettivi gli educatori si formano in gruppi di sostegno reciproco in cui trovano insieme la forza per resistere di fronte all’indicibile tragedia del genocidio. Resta, però, fondamentale intessere relazioni anche fuori dai ristretti confini della Palestina, per sentirsi parte della più ampia comunità educante e dare voce all’umanità di questi progetti. Siamo, quindi, lieti di annunciare che il 7 febbraio ai Giardini Robert Baden-Powell (sede scout) di Asola dalle ore 17 ci sarà un incontro pubblico aperto a tutte le persone interessate. Si collegheranno da Gaza e dalla Cisgiordania per condividere la loro esperienza nelle scuole: Sami Abouomar, operatore umanitario Centro VIK Sami Khalil Al Haw, coordinatore pedagogico di progetti educativi nella Striscia di Gaza Zeinab Ahmad Al-Haw: psicologa e cofondatrice della Adam Kindergarten and school di Al Zuweida (Gaza) Duha Maari, insegnante e ricercatrice nel campo dell'apprendimento emozionale, Cisgiordania Nablus Abdelhady Harb, infermiere e coordinatore pedagogico nella scuola primaria di Aldear (Gaza) Reham Harb, insegnante della scuola primaria di Aldear, a Gaza. Sarà una grande opportunità per conoscere e tessere solidarietà sostenendo, sia materialmente che politicamente, i progetti educativi di Gaza Freestyle. There will also be a counter-demonstration against the far-right at 11:30am at the Art Gallery, as a demonstration has been called by their side. Israel can be described as a fascist state- one which only accepts citizens of a certain ethnicity, and forces an apartheid regime on anyone different (even the indigenous inhabitants of the land). We can recognise that the UK is moving towards the same direction, with talk from politicians of deporting “illegal immigrants” and “stopping the boats”. Aside from the fact that no immigrant is illegal whether they travel here by small boat or otherwise (see the Refugee Convention of 1951 which the UK is a signatory of), even black and brown people who were born in the UK are being attacked too, assumed to be “foreign”. Sadly, this is nothing new for the UK. More than ever, the indisputable racism of anti-immigrant rhetoric has been spilling out onto our streets, peddled by quack politicians and preached by members of the public who are content in making a villain out of their fellow man, in doing the rich man’s bidding. We must oppose the fascist Israeli state, and fascism from our own politicians, institutions, and people. Only when we tear down the artificial divisions amongst ourselves, can we ever hope to fight the oppressive, capitalist system at large. Rafah crossing opened on Sunday, but only for limited medical evacuations, with no aid allowed to enter Gaza. People continue to die from hunger and untreated health conditions. As bombardment persists, the bodies of 15 Palestinian hostages were returned to Gaza. In the West Bank, Israeli forces shot and injured children during raids and ran over a man with a military jeep, while settlers attacked Bedouin communities, set homes on fire, destroyed crops, and assaulted residents. Beyond Palestine, Israel is spraying chemical agents over green areas in Lebanon and Syria, replicating a method long used to eradicate plant life in Palestine. This ongoing violence must stop. Join us this Saturday to March in solidarity with Palestinians and all other oppressed people resisting violence and erasure.
