We’re holding a special picket centred on closing down the Israeli detention facilities following several new reports of thousands of women, children and men, many held without charge, and the appalling treatment they suffer there including rape and other torture. We will be centring women and children in particular as their torture has had even less press coverage. As of 2 December, the Israeli Authorities continue to block UNRWA from bringing humanitarian personnel and aid into the Gaza Strip. Amid high prices and lack of income, UN Women’s Chief of Humanitarian Action reported that women are facing hunger, fear, repeated displacement and winter conditions in makeshift shelters that offer little protection. The so-called ceasefire has not stopped the genocide. We’re also highlighting the ongoing persecution of prisoners in the UK, arrested and imprisoned for opposing genocide and supporting Palestine. Thousands have defied the ban on supporting Palestine Action. Several prisoners charged but held in prison for more than a year without trial are on hunger strike. We need all states including the UK to break all diplomatic links with the criminal state of Israel and shut the embassy down. #freepalestine
