One tragic example - Dr. Alaa al-Najjar lost nine of her ten children in an Israeli airstrike while she was working in a Gaza hospital. Only her 11-year-old son survived. Resistance Climbing follows a diverse crew of Bedouins, activists and urban professionals who embrace climbing as a much needed respite from the burdens of the Israeli occupation. Tour De Gaza tells the story of cycling champion and Gaza Sunbirds co-founder, Alaa Al-Dali. After losing his leg to an Israeli sniper’s bullet, Alaa refused to surrender his dream and led a movement of hope and resilience for disabled athletes in Gaza, transforming his tragedy into a mission with the Gaza Sunbirds para-cycling team. On May 19th, 2025, Ahmed Al-Dali, a beloved team member and Alaa’s cousin, was killed by an Israeli airstrike. Ahmed was a Gaza Sunbird - a paracyclist, a father, a teammate, and a survivor. We hope to honor his memory by sharing this story.
