He is the author of many books that have been translated into 60 foreign editions, including “Gaza: An inquest into its martyrdom”, and “Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine conflict”. In the year 2020, Norman Finkelstein was named the fifth most influential political scientist in the world. He spoke to the KCL encampment earlier this year in May and will be joining us again to reflect on a year of genocide, the student movement and Israel's assault on Lebanon. Kot da se v zadnjem letu ni nič zgodilo. Kot da se ne dogaja etično čiščenje v živo, pred našimi očmi. V enajstih mesecih je bilo ubitih najmanj 40 000 Palestincev. Izraelska vojska je uničila šole in bolnišnice, ranila na stotine novinarjev, zdravstvenih delavcev in osebja ZN; preprečila je dostop do hrane, zdravil in goriva v Gazi, kar je povzročilo katastrofalne življenjske razmere za prebivalstvo in ogromno humanitarno katastrofo. V ponedeljek, 14. oktobra, bo v Vidmu (Italiji) potekala nogometna tekma Italija - Izrael v okvirju turnirov lige narodov UEFA. V zadnjih 11 mesecih je Izrael ubil najmanj 40.000 Palestincev. Izraelska vojska je v Gazi uničila šole in bolnišnice, ranila na stotine novinarjev, zdravstvenih delavcev in osebja ZN. Istočasno je preprečila dostop do hrane, zdravil in goriva, kar je povzročilo katastrofalne humanitarne razmere za tamkajšnje prebivalstvo. Hkrati se nasilna izraelska okupacija Zahodnega brega stopnjuje z zatiranjem vseh oblik protestov ter uporabo izvensodnih ciljanih pobojev, bombardiranj in množičnih aretacij civilnega prebivalstva. Prisotnost Izraela na tovrstnih športnih prireditvah, kljub nenehnim kršitvam mednarodnega prava, zrcali splošno politično legitimizacijo izraelskih grozodejstev nad palestinskim prebivalstvom. Prepričani smo, da vsa grozodejstva, ki jih je zagrešila država Izrael, ne smejo ostati nekaznovana in da je nujno treba uvesti mednarodne sankcije. Vključno s prepovedjo sodelovanja Izraela v zvezi FIFA in drugih mednarodnih zvezah ter njeno izključitvijo iz vseh športnih tekmovanj.
