O que começou como a busca por um antigo companheiro de prisão, de 1989, tornou-se uma viagem inesperada por Gaza com Hasan Elboubou, um guia local cujo destino é desconhecido. O longa, vencedor do prêmio Europa Cinemas Label no Festival de Locarno, foi realizado em colaboração com Hasan e traz uma reflexão sobre a memória, a perda e a passagem do tempo, registrando vidas que talvez nunca mais sejam encontradas. Joining the U.S., as permanent members of the UN Security Council, are France and the U.K. These states both voted in favor of the U.S. resolution, providing it international legitimacy and support. As students and faculty, we condemn this resolution as another means of legitimizing Israel’s colonial project and genocidal assault against the Palestinian people. A renewed occupation will never result in “peace.” This resolution continues the system of colonial violence that manifested itself most recently in a two-year-long genocidal campaign in Gaza. It allows the very state that is committing genocide to “stabilize” the people it seeks to destroy. It normalizes Israel as a state like any other, obfuscating the root cause of the violence it produces. It seeks to reshape the fabric of Palestinian society to guarantee the success of Israeli colonialism. It denies Palestinians a future. Significa também sustentabilidade financeira, soberania alimentar e, talvez mais importante do que isso, a contínua luta pela terra. É por isso que a época da apanha da azeitona é, anualmente, um dos mais importantes elementos para o sumud — a resistência através de manter-se no território, apesar das dificuldades e violências impostas pela colónia sionista. Tal como em anos anteriores, também para 2025 vários coletivos palestinianos juntaram-se para organizar a campanha Zaytoun 2025, em que pediram ajuda a ativistas e jornalistas internacionais e de toda a Palestina para se juntarem a eles numa iniciativa de apoio mútuo contra os recorrentes ataques de colonos e soldados. A campanha decorreu como já se esperava: assédio diário, dezenas de carros incendiados, centenas de bombas de gás lacrimogéneo enviadas, milhares de árvores cortadas, gente hospitalizada, detida e deportada. Mas, por entre o escalar da violência da ocupação sionista, a voz de um agricultor da aldeia de Al-Nazla Al-Sharkyia, em Tulkarem, ecoou como mote para continuar: “Nós estamos cansados desta vida. Estamos cansados. Não conseguimos chegar às nossas terras. Mas eu vou tentar, sempre. Vou tentar chegar à minha terra, sempre. Ainda estou aqui. Ainda estou aqui. Ainda estou aqui. Eu não deixo a minha terra. Eu não deixo a minha terra. Esta é a minha terra.” Em outubro, uma série de gente viajou desde Portugal para apoiar esta iniciativa na Cisjordânia. Agora, de volta, falam sobre o que testemunharam e aprenderam, e tentam angariar fundos para fazer face às muitas, muitas despesas da campanha.
