A year later, TiU still hasn’t cut its ties with its Israeli partners complicit in genocide. In fact, the Executive Board is meeting on May 6 to make a final decision on the Advisory Committee’s advice to suspend all ties with Israel. We are officially putting our board on notice - fail to cut the ties and we’ll be back. We are many, we are united, and we will not go away. The language of Communication in Gaza” αποτελεί μια πρωτοβουλία της Παλαιστινιακής Παροικίας Ελλάδας αποσκοπώντας να φωτίσει τα δεινά που υφίστανται οι Παλαιστίνιοι στη Γάζα μέσα από τον φωτογραφικό φακό των φωτορεπόρτερ της περιοχής. Η έκθεση σε επιμέλεια της Μιρέι Ελ Σάιντ θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Μουσείο Τζώρτζη Αγίου Νικολάου (Πρώην Δημοτική Πινακοθήκη Αγίου Νικολάου - 28ης Οκτωβρίου 10) με διοργανωτή την Ομάδα του Αντιρατσιστικού Φεστιβάλ Αγίου Νικολάου. Τα εγκαίνια θα γίνουν στις 15 Μαίου στις 8μ.μ. σμε την παρουσία της κα. Ελ Σάιντ. Η βραδιά θα περιλαμβάνει ποιητικές αναγνώσεις απο την Σόφη Κορομπύλια, τον Νίκο Τζώρτζη, την Λέιλα, και μουσική απο τον Στυλιανό Σιγανό. Η έκθεση θα είναι ανοιχτή κάθε Παρασκευή, Σάββατο και Κυριακή (ώρες: 18.00 – 22.00) μέχρι τις 8 Ιουνίου. Η επιλογή του τίτλου της έκθεσης έχει ιδιαίτερη αξία καθώς αποτυπώνει την αγωνιώδη προσπάθεια των Παλαιστινίων να μάθουν για την τύχη των ανθρώπων τους. Ένας λαός που εκτός από τα βασικά αγαθά και τις ελευθερίες στερείται την επικοινωνία με τους οικείους του καθιστώντας τη πολυτέλεια γι αυτούς. Τα λιγοστά λεπτά που τα δίκτυα αποκαθίστανται, δεν υπάρχει χρόνος για συζήτηση. Αυτό που αναζητούν είναι απάντηση στο μόνο ερώτημα που πλανιέται συνεχώς στο μυαλό τους και τους βασανίζει, αν είναι κανείς ζωντανός, «Is anyone alive?». Το ίδιο ερώτημα, με ζωγραφισμένη την αγωνία στα πρόσωπα τους, απευθύνουν και όσοι ψάχνουν τους δικούς τους κάτω από τα χαλάσματα κάποιου κτηρίου που έχει βομβαρδιστεί. Η έκθεση αποτελείται από 7 κεφάλαια που δίνουν την απάντηση σε αυτό το ερώτημα και στο τι βίωσαν για δεκαετίες ολόκληρες και συνεχίζουν να βιώνουν οι Παλαιστίνιοι με την ανοχή της διεθνούς κοινότητας. Οι φωτογραφίες που εντάσσονται σε κάθε κεφάλαιο - Πυροκρότηση, Αντίσταση, Αλληλεγγύη, Θρήνος ή Οδύνη, Ζωή, Καταστροφή και Τζανάζα - έχουν τραβηχτεί από τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2023 μέχρι σήμερα.

When the British abruptly decided to terminate their ‘mandate’ in Palestine, Zionists faced a seemingly insurmountable obstacle in their plan to create a Jewish state. After nearly three decades of Zionist-sponsored Jewish migration, the Jewish population was still far from constituting a majority in Palestine. In 1948 - the year the State of Israel was established - Jews made up only 35% of the population of historic Palestine. Despite being a minority, the UN partition plan allocated 55% of Palestinian land for a Jewish state. Even within this proposed territory, there was no clear Jewish majority, with Jewish and Palestinian populations roughly equal. As Zionist colonisation, aided by the British, had not secured the demographic majority needed for a Jewish state, Zionist forces launched a campaign of systematic ethnic cleansing in the days before and after the proclamation of the State of Israel - what Palestinians call the Nakba, or "the catastrophe." Acting on a meticulously detailed plan, Zionist militias went from village to village across Palestine, killing, terrorising, and expelling Palestinians from their homes. Entire Palestinian communities were wiped out, and by the end, Israel had seized control of 78% of historic Palestine. Over 750,000 Palestinians were expelled to Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and other parts of Palestine. They and their descendants remain refugees to this day. Palestinian refugees kept the keys to their homes, which have since become a powerful symbol of their right and determination to return to their stolen land.
