In the vibrant spirit of revolutionary struggle and solidarity, we call upon poets and all people of conscience to submit poems dedicated to the liberation of Palestine and which stand with the students in the US facing threats of deportation and all those facing repression for demanding the end to the genocide. As the US & Israel continue their brutal assault, the people’s poetry must speak loudly and clearly. We seek poetry that fights, that dreams, that mourns, that calls people to action — poetry that affirms the indestructible will of the Palestinian people to be free. Poetry has always been a tool of resistance. From the defiant verses of apartheid South African freedom fighters, to the writing in solidarity with Vietnam, to the lyrical poetry of the Cuban revolution, to the unbreakable words of Palestinian poets under occupation — the poets have always borne the responsibility of bolstering revolutionary spirit. We, as Artists Against Apartheid, know that poetry is never a neutral terrain. It is up to writers to stand on the right side of history, to bolster popular imagination of revolutionary ruptures, to make collective art that is deeply tied to the movement and that will fill the pages of history with our resounding call for justice. Poems will be used for materials made by Artists Against Apartheid which could include use in digital materials on our website and print materials like protest placards, newsprint, booklets, banners, etc. Poet’s work that is published will be credited as a part of their submission to this call.

Είμαστε οι Crete for Falastin και καλούμε όλη την κοινωνία να “Μη σταματήσουμε να μιλάμε για την Παλαιστίνη”. Η πρωτοβουλία αυτή συστάθηκε από άτομα που συναντιόμαστε στα κοινά της Κρήτης και συνάμα έχουμε επαφή με τον τουριστικό τομέα στο νησί και την αρχαιολογική επιστήμη και προφανώς μας ενώνει η αλληλεγγύη μας στο λαό της Παλαιστίνης και η απέχθειά μας σε οτιδήποτε πρεσβεύει ο σιωνισμός. Στη Γάζα, σε όλη την Παλαιστίνη, είναι το επίκεντρο ενός παγκοσμίου πολέμου κι εμείς, απ’ τις οθόνες, μάρτυρες μια γενοκτονίας. Αφού υπάρχει ενημέρωση συνυπάρχει και ευθύνη. Όσο κυριαρχεί φαινομενική “αποδοχή” του αυταρχισμού, γίνεται ξεκάθαρο ότι αυτός επεκτείνεται. Θεωρούμε ξεκάθαρο πως αυτό που συμβαίνει στην Παλαιστίνη είναι παγκόσμιας εμβέλειας και όχι τοπικό. Και το στοίχημα-ερώτημα που τίθεται (κανιβαλισμός ή αλληλεγγύη-αντίσταση) απευθύνεται προς όλες τις κοινωνίες και όχι μόνο την Παλαιστινιακή. Η συμμετοχή μας στο συνέδριο των Αρχαιολογικών Διαλόγων που πραγματοποιείται 30/5-1/6 στο Ρέθυμνο, αρχικά, αποσκοπεί στην ανάδειξη της γενοκτονίας σε ακόμη ένα πλαίσιο. Επίσης, αποτελεί ακόμη ένα μέσο να συζητήσουμε τρόπους αντίστασης και αντίδρασης στην ισραηλινή κατοχή/ εγκλήματα, μέσω των πολλαπλών ιδιοτήτων που φέρουμε ως μέλη της κοινωνίας. Θεωρούμε, λοιπόν, ότι η ισραηλινή προσπάθεια παραποίησης της ιστορίας της Παλαιστίνης -ως μέσο εδραίωσης της αποικιοκρατίας και του σιωνισμού στην περιοχή- αφορά και την αρχαιολογική επιστήμη. Έτσι, ανοίγουμε το Διάλογο για την Παλαιστίνη, στη θεματική του φετινού συνεδρίου Αρχαιολογία στα άκρα: Πόλεμοι, γενοκτονίες, πολιτισμικές και περιβαλλοντικές καταστροφές, με σκοπό επιστήμονες και κοινωνία να βρεθούμε σε κοινό τραπέζι.
