He said “If Christ were to be born today, he would be born under the rubble and Israeli shelling.”Last year, and again this year, he has reproduced the same scene, titled ‘Christ is still in the rubble’. This spin on the traditional nativity scene is the reality that children and their families face in occupied Palestine, whilst the West gorges itself on mindless consumerism for the holidays. And yet, the Palestinian people continue to build their lives back up amidst 39 million tonnes of rubble, rubble in which the bodies of thousands of Palestinians still remain. Activists from our community have made their own ‘Child still in the rubble’ scene which they will display at Merrion Street Gardens, and push along in a trolley during the march. We willthis Saturday prepared to amplify their d also be marching for the 8 young people who are on hunger strike for Palestine across UK prisons, so make sure you attend emands as well.
