Oktober! Von der Nakba 1948, als über 800.000 Palästinenser vertrieben, getötet und entrechtet wurden, bis zur völkerrechtswidrigen Blockade Gazas seit 2007. Die Geschichte Palästinas ist eine Geschichte kolonialer Gewalt. Heute leben 75 % der Bewohnerinnen Gazas als Nachkommen dieser Vertriebenen, ohne Recht auf Rückkehr, trotz UN-Resolution 194 (1948). Seit der Besatzung 1967 kontrolliert Israel die gesamte Wasser-, Energie- und Infrastruktur. In Gaza stehen den Menschen nur 20–35 Liter Wasser pro Tag zur Verfügung, nur ein Drittel des Ackerlandes ist nutzbar, die Fischerei ist stark eingeschränkt, während in Israel der Pro-Kopf-Verbrauch bei über 300 Litern liegt. Nahrung, Wasser und Strom werden als Druckmittel und Waffen der Besatzung eingesetzt. Wenn jede Lebensgrundlage zerstört wird, bleibt Widerstand ein Akt des Überlebens. Seit 2008 gab es fünf große Militärangriffe auf Gaza (2008, 2012, 2014, 2021, 2023), die Tausende töteten und Hunderttausende obdachlos machten. Eine der angewandten Strategien wird zynisch „Rasenmähen“ genannt: regelmäßige, massive Angriffe auf Gaza, um Bevölkerung und Widerstand immer wieder zu zerschlagen, durch gezielte Zerstörung ziviler Infrastruktur. Friedliche Proteste wie der Great March of Return (2018–2019) wurden mit Waffengewalt niedergeschlagen: 200 Tote, 29.000 Verletzte, viele dauerhaft behindert. Die Jahre 2022 und 2023 (bereits vor Oktober) gehörten zu den tödlichsten für Palästinenser seit der zweiten Intifada. Diese Bedingungen sind der Grund dafür, dass sich die Menschen in Palästina gegen Besatzung und den Terror des Siedlerstaates zur Wehr setzen. Der 7. Oktober 2023 ist keine isolierte Gewalt, sondern Höhepunkt jahrzehntelanger Unterdrückung. Deutsche Politik und Medien tragen durch Waffenexporte, Repression von Solidarität und Desinformation zu dieser Unterdrückung bei.
